Trip is set for Saturday, Sept. 5 to Monday, Sept. 7 (Labor Day weekend—no classes Monday!). Here’s the plan: Saturday – Drive up to Tennessee; Sunday – Raft all day with professional guides from Quest Expeditions in Ocoee, TN; Monday – Head home. We’ll be staying on-site in air-conditioned bunkhouses. The bunkhouse also has two full bathrooms, indoor full sized fridge, outdoor grill, and outdoor sand volleyball court.

Every trip is led by at least two trained OA staff or volunteers, with transportation included. If the activity requires additional professionals, they’ll be there too! All other details—like what’s provided and what to bring—will be in the trip itinerary. It’s your responsibility to read it thoroughly so you know what to expect.

After receiving so many requests for more climbing competitions, Outdoor Adventures (OA) is excited to host TWO bouldering comps this Fall. Join us for the first climbing comp of the semester on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the UWF Climbing Center (Building 72). Community members: your day pass is included with your competition registration—no additional admission fee required!

How the Competition Works: Check-in and warm-up begin at 12:30 PM. We'll officially starts at 1:00 PM (DoN'T BE LATE IF YOU'RE COMPETING!). Be among the first to climb a full set of brand-new boulder problems throughout the Climbing Center (and possibly the Boulder Lounge!). Each climber will receive a scorecard and have up to three attempts per problem. Judges will score each climb, and points will be totaled to determine the winners. Awards and prizes will be presented at approximately 4:50 PM.

Come challenge yourself, climb new problems, and spend the day with an awesome climbing community!

Pre-registration is not required, but is highly recommended, as space is limited to 20 competitors. If you register but can no longer attend, please unregister through your Rec profile so we can offer your spot to another climber.

Payment & Cancellation Policy:Full payment is due at registration. Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the competition will receive a refund minus the 7% University processing fee. The Gulf at War: History and Archaeology of Revolutionary West Florida kicks off this year's theme of Revolution and Rebellion as we bring together historians and archaeologists to explore the Gulf Coast's overlooked role in the American Revolution.

The event features Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Dr. Jack E. Davis, Distinguished Professor of History at the University of Florida and author of The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea, as keynote speaker and moderator for a panel of regional historians and archaeologists. Together, they will explore the people, places, conflicts, and archaeological discoveries that reveal the Gulf Coast's vital role during the American Revolution, highlighting both terrestrial and underwater archaeology and the region's importance within the broader Revolutionary War.

Following the discussion, attendees may enjoy an after-hours visit to the Pensacola Museum of History's Road to Revolution exhibit and interact with educational displays from regional heritage organizations.

Spend your Saturday exploring Alligator Alley in Summerdale, Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 26! We'll hop in the van for about a one-hour drive before enjoying a few hours at the park. During our visit, you'll have the chance to:

Walk the boardwalk on a self-guided tour to see alligators up close.Safely feed alligators.Watch professional live alligator feedings.Hold a baby alligator.Meet other fascinating reptiles, including snakes and tortoises.It's the perfect Saturday morning and afternoon adventure, and we'll have you back on campus by the evening!

Every trip is led by at least two trained OA staff members or volunteers, and transportation is included. If the activity requires additional professionals, they'll be there too! All trip-specific information—including what's provided and what you should bring—can be found in the trip itinerary. Please read it carefully before your trip so you know what to expect.

Who can join? All UWF students, faculty, and staff are welcome! Every UWF participant may also bring one non-UWF guest through our OA Plus One Membership. To activate this free, year-long membership, simply email Outdoor Adventures—even if your guest already has a RecWell account. Once the membership has been added, your guest will be able to register and join you on OA trips.

Payment Policy: Full payment is due at registration unless a deposit option is available. A 7% University processing fee will be deducted from all personal refunds. Refund requests must be submitted by the posted deadline (typically 14 days before the trip or event unless otherwise noted). After the deadline, participants must contact OA directly to request a withdrawal. Refunds after the deadline are not guaranteed and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If OA cancels a trip due to weather or low participation, participants may transfer to the rescheduled date or receive a full refund. Join us for an exciting day trip adventure! Our trip is happening on Saturday, October 17! Here’s the plan: We’ll head to Marianna, FL and spend the day exploring Florida Caverns State Park! We’ll have time to enjoy the park’s trails, check out the swimming holes, and soak up the scenery before ending our adventure with a guided tour through the park’s very own cave! After a full day of exploring, we’ll hop back in the van and head home—hopefully with some great memories, plenty of stories, and without getting back too late!

Every trip is led by at least two trained OA staff or volunteers, with transportation included. If the activity requires additional professionals, they’ll be there too! All other details—like what’s provided and what to bring—will be in the trip itinerary. It’s your responsibility to read it thoroughly so you know what to expect.

Climbing is one of our all-time favorite activities, and we’re excited to take you bouldering outside on real rock at the stunning Horse Pens 40! This location is renowned as one of the best bouldering destinations in the Eastern U.S.! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 24 to Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026—you won’t want to miss this rocktastic adventure!

Here’s the plan: Saturday – Hit the road to Steele, Alabama, set up camp, climb a little, and enjoy a cozy campfire and eat S'mores; Sunday - Wake up and climb until it's time to leave! We’ll be camping in HP40 so accessing the boulders are very easy - the campgrounds have bathrooms and plenty of space to explore. Our gear is made for chilly weather, so even if it's still a tad cold, we will be prepared!

Every trip is led by at least two trained OA staff or volunteers, with transportation included. All other details—like what’s provided and what to bring—will be in the trip itinerary. It’s your responsibility to read it thoroughly so you know what to expect.

Meet your OA Trip Leaders at the Edward Ball Canoe Dock (behind Crosby Hall, Building 10). We'll provide all the equipment—just wear clothes you don't mind getting a little wet and come ready for a fun evening on the water. Each canoe accommodates two participants.

Registration is required, and spots are limited! If you register but can no longer attend, please cancel your registration or email us at least 24 hours in advance so another student can participate. A $15 no-show fee will be charged to participants who register but do not attend without canceling in time. FREE for all UWF students, faculty, and staff! Just bring your Argo Card! If you pre-register, please have a screenshot of your registration ready at check-in to help the line move as quickly as possible.

Community members are welcome, too! Admission is just $10 per group (up to 5 people). Groups with more than 5 participants must purchase an additional group registration. Solo participants are also welcome for $10. Only one person per group should register to avoid duplicate payments (you'll have to create a free Rec Account). All payments must be made through the registration process. Cash, Apple Pay, and all other forms of payment will not be accepted at the event. All registrations are final and non-refundable. After registering, you'll receive a confirmation email with a waiver link to share with the rest of your group, or they may complete their waivers upon arrival. Please note: If you register in advance, please bring a screenshot of your registration receipt and a valid photo ID so we can verify your registration at check-in. Your entire group must arrive together. If members of your group arrive separately, they will need to register and pay separately.

Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required! All participants must sign a waiver before entering the trail and no one walks the trail alone! If you arrive by yourself (which is totally okay!), we'll pair you with another group before sending you onto the trail.

📍 Location: Edward Ball Nature Trail (behind Crosby Hall, Building 10). Parking is available in Lots G and F. Follow the glowing directional yard signs—they'll lead you straight to the start!

🎭 Feeling Festive? Arrive a little early and enter our Halloween Costume Contest from 7:00–7:15 PM! The top three costumes will each win a Halloween prize bucket. Show off your spooky (or silly!) style, impress the judges with your creativity, and earn bonus points for an entertaining costume backstory. Best of all, costume contestants get first access to the haunted trail!

🌙 Night Hike Overview: The trail is a simple ½-mile loop that normally takes about 10–20 minutes to complete. You may have walked it dozens of times during the day—but at night, with only glow sticks lighting the path and a few mischievous OA staff lurking in the woods, it becomes a boo-tifully spooky adventure you'll never forget! (You are welcome to walk the trail multiple times!)

⚠️ Before You Hit the Trail, please review the following guidelines to help keep the event safe and enjoyable for everyone: •No touching actors or props. Any physical contact with actors or staff will result in immediate removal from the event and may involve UWF Police. •Prohibited items and behaviors: Weapons, drugs, alcohol, smoking or vaping, lighters, running, flashlights, and throwing glow sticks or any other objects are strictly prohibited. We have zero tolerance for unsafe behavior. •Leave pets at home. Even the bravest furry friends can become frightened by the sights and sounds along the trail. •Wear closed-toe shoes. The trail has uneven terrain and is not accessible for wheelchairs, strollers, or crutches. Uneven areas will be marked with lights, but please watch your footing and walk carefully. Remember—you'll be on a natural trail, so use caution to avoid slips, trips, or twisted ankles. •Be prepared for Halloween effects. The hike may include strobe lights, fog machines, loud music, sudden noises, jump scares, and low-light conditions. •Keep phones put away. Please silence your cell phone during the hike. Feel free to snap a quick photo before or after your walk, but while on the trail, please limit photos and videos and do not use flash photography.

Ready to take on a little bit of everything? Join OA for an action-packed adventure at Whitewater Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday, Nov. 7! We'll head to a man-made adventure center where you'll have the chance to experience ziplining, high ropes, and whitewater rafting all in one day! Never done any of these activities before? This is the perfect opportunity to give them a try! The high ropes course is beginner-friendly and allows you to choose which obstacles you’d like to tackle. And don’t let the whitewater rafting intimidate you—it takes place in a man-made rapid pool rather than a natural river, making it a little less intimidating for first-timers! But whether you’re a beginner or you’ve done these activities hundreds of times, this trip is sure to be a blast!

After receiving so many requests for more climbing competitions, Outdoor Adventures (OA) is excited to host TWO bouldering comps this Fall. Join us for the second climbing comp of the semester on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the UWF Climbing Center (Building 72). Community members: your day pass is included with your competition registration—no additional admission fee required!

How the Competition Works: Check-in and warm-up begin at 12:30 PM. We'll officially starts at 1:00 PM (DoN'T BE LATE IF YOU'RE COMPETING!). Be among the first to climb a full set of brand-new boulder problems throughout the Climbing Center (and possibly the Boulder Lounge!). Each climber will receive a scorecard and have up to three attempts per problem. Judges will score each climb, and points will be totaled to determine the winners. Awards and prizes will be presented at approximately 4:50 PM.

Come challenge yourself, climb new problems, and spend the day with an awesome climbing community!

Pre-registration is not required, but is highly recommended, as space is limited to 20 competitors. If you register but can no longer attend, please unregister through your Rec profile so we can offer your spot to another climber.

Payment & Cancellation Policy:Full payment is due at registration. Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the competition will receive a refund minus the 7% University processing fee. No refunds will be issued for no-shows. If Outdoor Adventures cancels the event, a full refund will be provided. UWF students, faculty, and staff are invited to this FREE Afternoon Canoe Paddle on Friday, November 13, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. Meet your OA Trip Leaders at the Edward Ball Canoe Dock (behind Crosby Hall, Building 10). We'll provide all the equipment—just wear clothes you don't mind getting a little wet and come ready for a fun afternoon on the water. Each canoe accommodates two participants.

Registration is required, and spots are limited! If you register but can no longer attend, please cancel your registration or email us at least 24 hours in advance so another student can participate. A $15 no-show fee will be charged to participants who register but do not attend without canceling in time. Waitlist Policy: If a spot becomes available, the first person on the waitlist will automatically be moved into the event.

Join us for an exciting overnight trip to Fort Pickens! Trip is set for Saturday, Nov. 14 to Sunday, Nov. 15. Here’s the plan: We’ll head out in the afternoon to Gulf Islands National Seashore and spend the rest of the day exploring Fort Pickens, taking in the beautiful coastal scenery, and soaking up some history along the way. Once we're done catching the sunset, we'll head back to camp for a camp dinner and s'mores! If anyone is up for it, we can also take a nighttime stroll to do some stargazing. Sunday, we’ll paddle (weather permitting), explore a little more, and then head back to UWF!

Every trip is led by at least two trained OA staff or volunteers, with transportation included. If the activity requires additional professionals, they’ll be there too! All other details—like what’s provided and what to bring—will be in the trip itinerary. It’s your responsibility to read it thoroughly so you know what to expect.

How It Works: Half the gym will be set up for fast-paced Archery Tag matches, while the other half will feature target practice and a relaxed space to hang out between games.

Teams of 4–6 players will compete in matches consisting of three 3-minute rounds. Don't have a team? No worries—we'll help you find one! Winning teams stay on the court until they're defeated (or ready for a break).

No pressure and no long commitment—just come out, shoot some arrows, meet new people, and have fun! Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome. Please wear athletic or casual clothing, remove loose jewelry, and wear secure, closed-toe shoes. No flip-flops, heels, or open-back shoes. Crocs are permitted only in sport mode.
