About this Event
View mapIn partnership with the UWF Archaeology Institute, join the Florida Public Archeology Network on Thursday, December 5, for our next Archaeology on Tap program at Odd Colony Brewing Company!
This December, walk in and grab a drink to hear UWF Anthropology Professor Dr. John Bratten present Tales of Tails: Analyzing the Critters of Luna's Shipwrecks. As co-principal investigator of the Emanuel Point II shipwreck, Bratten combines his passion for science and archeology by overseeing the excavation and artifact conservation of the second vessel from Tristán de Luna’s 1559 colonization fleet. He utilizes a state-of-the-art freeze-dryer provided by the Archaeology Institute to stabilize and maintain diagnostic information from artifacts that have been submerged in water for more than 400 years.
Archaeology on Tap is just like our long-standing program ArchaeoCafé...just hosted at a local brewery instead of a restaurant! Archaeology on Tap is free and open to the community, but is recommended for adults. Seating is unreserved. The talk starts at 7 p.m. and guests are recommended to arrive by 6:45 p.m. to place drink orders and claim a seat before the talk begins.
