Join the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities on Wednesday, January 21, from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 215 at the John C. Pace Library (Building 32) as we continue the 2025–26 Scholarship Spotlight Series with two engaging presentations that highlight the creativity and research excellence found across CASSH.

From Art and Design, Associate Professor Carrie Fonder will share how humor, material play, and cultural critique intersect in her sculptural, installation, and video work. Her talk will explore the role of animals in her practice, as subjects, objects, and even performers—and how these elements help illuminate the complexities of the contemporary moment.

From Communication, graduate student Nikki DeSlatte will present her strategic social media project developed for Pearland Pet Crew, a nonprofit supporting the City of Pearland Animal Services. Using Instagram and TikTok, she designed a targeted plan to strengthen engagement, raise awareness, and drive tangible outcomes such as increased adoption and foster applications.
