About this Event
View mapThe University of West Florida College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities is excited to introduce the Gulf Coast Culture Series, an evolution of our longstanding Experience UWF Downtown Lecture Series. This new series broadens our focus beyond public lectures, becoming an immersive celebration of the rich and diverse culture of the Gulf Coast Region that aims to deepen our community’s connection to its unique history and culture.
On Thursday, January 23, please join the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities for the inaugural Gulf Coast Culture Series event, True South: A Conversation with John T. Edge, at the Museum of Commerce in downtown Pensacola. Reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by speaker at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Join us for an engaging talk with John T Edge, host of TrueSouth on SEC Network, ESPN, and Hulu; journalist for The New York Times, Oxford American, Garden And Gun, and others; former Director of the Southern Foodways Alliance; and author of the critically acclaimed The Potlikker Papers. John will discuss how the food and media can tell the stories of our region’s distinct culture and identity. It’s the perfect start to a series that’s all about celebrating what makes this region such an extraordinary place to call home. Don’t miss this impactful opportunity to hear from a distinguished author, storyteller, and cultural historian who continues to shape conversations on food and the South.
*This installment of the Gulf Coast Culture Series is sponsored by the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities and the John C. Pace Symposium Series.
